How To Stay Safe During The Hungry Ghost Festival (16 August 2023 to 14 September 2023)

The annual Hungry Ghost Festival (16 August 2023 to 14 September 2023) is looming around the corner so here are some tips and tricks to stay safe during this time to avoid offending any spirits!
But first, what is the Hungry Ghost Festival?
The Hungry Ghost Festival is a traditional Chinese festival where the Gates of Hell open and ghosts/spirits are able to return to Earth! It is celebrated by Buddhists and Taoists to honour the memories of their deceased loved ones.
It is generally believed that major decisions should not be made during this month as they might go awry. So weddings, business decisions and moving houses are avoided during this 7th month.
Moving on to how you can keep yourself save during this Chinese Ghost Month!
On top of the usual "Don't start a new business", "Don't whistle at night" and "Don't disturb the offerings", we have put together a few "witchy" measures you can take to keep yourself safe in order of how protected you wish to be.
Protection Level 1: 'Protect Me Please'
What you will need:
2. Fiery Wall Of Protection Oil
3. Sage
Carve your name and birthday on the White Candle. Drip the Fiery Wall Of Protection Oil on the candle and make sure to get it on the wick too. Burn the candle down completely then open the windows/doors and sage your area. Repeat this for all 7 days.
Protection Level 2: 'Go Away, I'm Banishing You'
What you will need:
2. Fiery Wall Of Protection Oil
3. Sage
Carve your name and birthday on the Black Candle. Drip the Fiery Wall Of Protection Oil on the candle and make sure to get it on the wick too. Burn the candle down completely then open the windows/doors and sage your area. Repeat this for all 7 days.
Protection Level 3: 'You Hurt Me, I Hurt You Back'
What you will need:
4. Fiery Wall Of Protection Oil
5. Evil Eye Protection Pendant
6. Sage
Carve your name and birthday on each candle. Drip the Fiery Wall Of Protection Oil on the candles and make sure to get it on the wicks too. Burn the candles down completely then open the windows/doors and sage your area. Repeat this for all 7 days. Set your intentions for the Evil Eye Protection Pendant. Start your intentions with, "I want...". An example would be, "I want to be protected during this Hungry Ghost Festival". Remember to keep the necklace away from any sort of liquid and aerosols (this includes sweat and water). Keep the necklace with you at all times and under your pillow. You may also continue using it after the Chinese Month is over.
Protection Level 4: 'Ultimate 7th Month Protection'
What you will need:
3. Fiery Wall Of Protection Oil
5. Evil Eye Protection Pendant
Carve your name and birthday on each candle. Drip the Fiery Wall Of Protection Oil on the candles and make sure to get it on the wicks too. Burn the candles down completely then open the windows/doors and sage your area. Repeat this for all 29 days. Set your intentions for the Evil Eye Protection Pendant. Start your intentions with, "I want...". An example would be, "I want to be protected during this Hungry Ghost Festival". Remember to keep the necklace away from any sort of liquid and aerosols (this includes sweat and water). Keep the necklace with you at all times and under your pillow. You may also continue using it after the Chinese Month is over.
